Yesterday, I watched as my sister – home for the week from her glamorous Brooklyn life – dressed herself in purple jeans, coral cardigan and yellow printed silk kimono top, and realised that colour blocking really is here. And I love it! It’s so fresh, so bright, so summery and so positive, and I swear that’s not just the Obamarama speaking.

So I was mightily pleased when little Joey Potter here dressed head to toe in magnificent fuschia.

Lovely! Isn’t it? And doesn’t she look great? She was always my favourite character, although I did rewatch the series recently and wonder why, as she’s obviously really annoying and jealous and ruins all of Dawson’s chances at love, before leaving him for his best friend! Totally understand that though as Josh Jackson is . . . delightful, for want of another, inappropriate word.

But colour blocking doesn’t always work! What’s that? Yes, I tell the truth. Sometimes, if you forget to wear a bra, or, you know, any kind of significant fabric, and team your colour blocking with mad goth heels, it might not work. I’m just saying! It might not. But it might, who knows?! Well, Lady Gaga might have a clue:

Don’t say I never give you anything.
