There are certain things, it seems, that have survived the recession – and the press breakfast might be one of those things. This morning, bright and early at 9am, a group of us assembled in Dublin’s Residence to preview Christian Louboutin’s A/W 2011 collection, with members of the Louboutin team and the man himself present.

This studded loafer is one of my favourite pieces – really versatile (and have I seen it on Chiara recently?).  I was sorry that I hadn’t brought my SLR with me – as I was when I went to the Arnotts x Fred Perry party last night, which was full to the brim of hipsters, and could surely have made up 90% of the material for my book on Irish street style – but I had a backpack full of gym stuff, my bicycle helmet AND my handbag, so you’ll have to forgive me.

Sunlight made this picture a bit, well, rubbish, but you get the drift. Soft, rounded studs on buttery soft black leather with a riding style biker boot. Really gorgeous, and definitely on my list for, you know, when I win the lottery.

Then these babies – amazing! I know they’re vaguely ridiculous and pantomimey but seriously, this would look so awesome on a bookshelf in the house I dream of living in one day. Just gorgeous. A sick platform and an even sicker heel, I would love to go dancing on tables in a pair of these.

Check out the Christian Louboutin boutique in Brown Thomas for yourself – it may sound twee but looking at pics of these shoes does not do them justice.
