Last night I went along with Emma and a non-blogging friend of mine (I know, they still exist!) to the Body Shop‘s Honey Bronze range launch with Karim Sattar, their lovely, lovely make-up artist. (There really is no better word for him than “lovely”; I kind of want him to be my best friend and personal make-up artist and TV companion and workmate all rolled into one.)

This is an amazing photograph that you’d never believe I took myself, would you?

Anyway, in between scoffing delicious canapés and Pimm’s – my favourite drink for summer time! - and chatting to Becky, who was lovelier in the flesh than on her blog, if that could be imagined – Karim talked us through the new range of matte bronzers, shimmer powders, lip glosses and a body oil that really is my favourite thing of the range already, even though I haven’t tried it. What can I say? I have a thing for body oil.

The lip glosses have bee-friendly honey and beeswax in them, which I like the idea of, and a lot of the products use fair trade oils sourced in Namibia, and olive oil from Italy, which is also great for moisturising and, you know, for life.

Karim’s top tips for 2011?

- Eyebrow powder over pencil. I’ve been using this for months now and I have to say I am a big fan. It’s a much more natural look and it makes it easier to fill in brows without getting that pencilled-in look.

- A little bronzer under the brow bone to open up eyes and make you look younger. Conversely, don’t mascara your bottom lashes unless you want to look older. (I do it all the time, mind you. My eyelashes are fairly non-existent and I like the panda look.

- Karim uses brushes to apply creams. For me this is a new thing – a blusher brush to apply cream blusher. I always use my fingers, but the brush gave a much easier finish. I do wonder about the cleaning, mind you . . .

Anyway, the competition! I got a goodie bag and I’m going to give the goodies to you! I have approximately six items, so leave a comment below and six people will be chosen, at random, to receive a random item from the range. Have at it!
