Here’s the sound of 2010 at Yves Saint Laurent‘s 2011 A/W fashion show, sporting make-up by Lancome and a dress from YSL’s pre-fall 2011 range. While I love her barely-there make-up – except, of course, that statement lip – I’m not so gone on her maxi, which seems a little dull and, Karl forgive me, like something one could pick up in a secondhand store. Want another look?

Is it a kind of ignorant snobbery that means I would quite like my expensive designer gear to look, well, like expensive designer gear? It’s not that I need people to turn around in the street and go, “wow, she’s wearing Gaultier”, but I would like to know that, if I’m forking out on something, it’s going to look special.

This even extends to the high-street. If I see an item in Topshop, say, that I think you could find in Penneys, I won’t buy it, even though the quality and cut might be so much better. Now that I type it out loud (!) I realise it probably is a really shallow thing; I don’t want people to think I’m wearing something cheap if I’m not. Ah, how I hate home truths.

Anyway what do you think of Florence? She’s also sporting Lancome’s new Rouge Pur Contour no 33 – Rouge Narcisse, which is available on counters near you from September of this year. Start counting down the days!
