This year’s fashion film, following on from the success of The September Issue in 2009, is Bill Cunningham New York, a film following street style photographer Cunningham and charting his impact on the “scene”. It’s easy to forget that street style photography was around long before the Sartorialist and Face Hunter and Garance Doré (great profile in this month’s Elle on the latter, incidentally).

Last week, I went to see Valentino: The Last Emperor in the delightful Denzille Lane cinema, courtesy of The Gloss magazine and Moet & Chandon champagne  (I abstained, GO ME). I loved the film – more, I think, than I loved The September Issue. If you have an interest in haute couture, you should 100 per cent see this movie. It’s such a hilarious and touching insight into a quite enigmatic (and bizarre) man, and really well done, despite the fact that it’s not quite as slick as The September Issue in its production. Just brilliant.
