Now that that’s out of the way, GiftsLikeThese have done a handy survey, to see what it really is that women want for Valentine’s Day. (Let’s just get a few points dusted before we continue: no, it’s not too early – I’ve been getting Valentine’s emails since December; no, it’s not ridiculous that the survey only covers women, a harsh generalisation would be that men don’t care that much about Valentine’s Day, and in any case, I could tell you what to give him except I’d probably be fired.)

The survey states that, in first place - and this is bad news for, well, the economy, not to mention anyone who doesn’t really like putting in the effort – is a good night out or, even better, a night away. That came in top with a whopping 30% of the vote. Next? “Something thoughtful.” Well, I have an issue with this. If I love Lego, a Lego necklace would be very thoughtful – but if I love flowers, flowers would be thoughtful . . . it’s a little too vague for my liking. In third place, “a dinner they didn’t have to cook themselves”. Again, little issue – do the women really do so much of the cooking? Ladies? Do you?

However, when asked what their top present every received was, 21% of respondents said jewellery. And I think we all know what that means. But let’s move on to two really cute present ideas – one for him, and one for her! (Don’t say I never give you nuttin’!)

This, readers, is a casette speaker. You plug your MP3 player into it and it plays the music! Love, love. It reminds me of a mix tape, but is so much cuter! And then:

These Le Creuset heart-shaped ramekins warm the cockles of my, eh, heart. So adorable! Le Creuset is ridiculously expensive (these babies come in at €74) and there are cheaper versions available, but look how cute they are!

Both of these items are available from Littlewoods. You can probably tell how unromantic I am if those are the two items I chose from a barrage of Valentine’s-themed emails. ANYWAY! Have at it. I will produce some further examples of Valentine’s goodies as the week goes on. EXCITING,  ISN’T IT?!
