So the past week has been a bit of a disaster on the purchasing front – meaning that I, eh, purchased everything in sight. I did some damage in H&M last week (great neutral colour basics at the moment in gorgeous rough silks, check it out – the store on South King St at least) before taking a bit of a jaunt into Urban Outfitters, where I got this gorgeous burnt orange mini, an item that is quickly becoming a wardrobe staple, so much so that I’m tempted to go buy it in other colours . . .
It’s surprisingly flattering, too (in my head, anyway).
BUT the biggest surprise of the weekend has to have been the success of a trip to Dorothy Perkins in the Jervis Centre. It’s a store I often forget about, probably because it hasn’t got a big presence on the Dublin high street, but I inevitably end up buying something when I am there. I went in, in the first place, to seek out a pair of platforms my sister has been wittering on about, and though I didn’t find them, I did find:
There’s not much to say about the pumps, except that they’re pumps with a lovely almost organza bow, and they’re comfy and they’ll go with pretty much everything – but the shirt is really what I want to wax lyrical about. It’s a gorgeous sheer fabric, and though I had trouble with it initially (it comes with a vest in the same terracotta colour that’s just a little too covered-up to be flattering), on Saturday night I teamed it with a royal blue dress and felt very 1970s-Asos-right-now.
I did make one mistake – a mistake I promptly returned the next day – in the form of this 1960s-style dress:
It’s really cute, and a sweet almost-red coral colour, but the problem for me was that I couldn’t find a single undergarment to team with it that you couldn’t see completely through the jersey fabric. It might be good for those who are a little smaller on top, but for me it wasn’t a runner!
THE END. What did you buy / do this weekend?
