This Marchesa dress has kind of divided internet opinion – I, for one, love it. It’s got that princessy wedding feel without being ridiculously sickly; I love the lace sleeves for winter; and the silk waist detail is a really nice touch, that I think brings it from frou-frou to, eh, something that rhymes. (On a little-bit-critical note, I’d love to see Nicole, eh, put on a little bit of weight. Post-pregnancy, I thought she looked amazing. This actually isn’t a criticism – I’d love someone to tell me to put on weight!)

Anyway, for a bit of context, let’s take a wee look at what Marchesa rolled out for A/W 2010 RTW (photos via Style.com), after the jump.

I actually love all of this stuff. It doesn’t necessarily have the classic quality of Chanel‘s collections, or the showstopping magic of John Galliano, but these are all very cute, feminine-but-kooky, beautifully made dresses. And then for an example of them on the red carpet, get a load of these:
