In other news, a couple of weeks ago I posted about an Elle magazine competition they were running online – and astute commenter Lorelei pointed out that the Elle competitions are only open to UK subscribers. Well I subsequently got in touch with their press office, and asked why this was so – and, amazing news, they got back to say that they’d spoken to their lawyers, who had no reason why the competitions shouldn’t be open to the Republic of Ireland – and this is now so! It was a great response, and great news for all of Elle‘s Irish readers.
Furthermore, I wrote a couple of weeks ago about a dress I wanted to buy from the Reiss website, but refused to do so as, when forced to convert into euro, the dress jumped from £195 to €365. As am very fastidious, I then got in contact with Reiss to ask what the story was – and whether or not this was a mistake. They responded to say that yes, it sure was, and that the dress should cost €245. (As to whether or not anyone bought it at the €120 hike, they were fairly vague.) Still, another good result! ‘Tis the season, and so on! (The bad news is that the dress doesn’t seem to be available any more. Well, you win some, and so on.)
