Worry not, I’m not ignoring the weather altogether, and have a fabliss piece coming up on what you can wear to keep cosy and, you know, upright, in this horrendous weather – but for now here’s a little blast of items for sale in New Look in the Jervis Shopping Centre (just in case you want to venture outside the house).

Clog boots, at €99.99, channeling the clog trend with a neat suede ankle boot . . . but I do wonder how flattering they would be on, say, the large of calf among us. Still, I’d give it a whirl. I think these boots are lovely – and, despite being quite trend-led, I’d say they’d go the distance in terms of remaining cool for a couple of years.

New Look is great for accessories, and this diamante paisley ring (€9.99) is, as Cheryl might say, reight up mey street. Loving the chunky rings lately, and loving gold, and loving diamonds, and sure a bit of black is cool . . . etc etc.

In the name of full disclosure, I should say that I own these foldover trousers (€34.99) and, no, I haven’t worn them yet. I kind of love them – with a little heel and a pussybow blouse – but trousers have never been my friend so I’m working my way to loving and wearing them. Watch this space.

Also loving this floral pussybow blouse (€34.99). I love the vintage feel of the print, although be warned, the last pussybow blouse I tried on in New Look was a little bit on the, eh, totally see-through side. Wear with a skin-tone vest (Marks & Spencer do great control ones) for a bit of modesty.
