I recently started watching an amazing television programme, entitled Make it or Break it, about a bunch of Olympic gymnastics hopefuls living in Denver. It’s quite brilliant, in that it’s schmaltzy and cheeesy and the storylines are ridiculously predictable and HECTIC, in that there are always six things going on in every single 46-minute episode (she got arrested! IN HER GYM GEAR! And her brother is in a wheelchair! And look, underage sex! And chastity! And a hot gym coach who has a hot secret and oh my god does she have an EATING DISORDER?!)

But I have a point, I swear – and the point is that, in an episode of Make it or Break it, two of the female characters are getting ready to go out, allowing them the opportunity for the most blatant piece of product placement I have ever seen, in my entire life. “Do you like my new shirt?” “Yeah, it’s really cool.” “I picked it up in Kohl’s at the weekend.” “What, are you endorsing them now?” “Well, if it’s good enough for Britney . . .” (who is currently endorsing Kohl’s, FYI)

So, the conclusion is: Kohl’s will take endorsement where it can find it, and perhaps has little shame when it comes to primetime television. Therefore, its partnership with used-to-be-cool J-Lo and her skeletal husband makes sense . . . and then it makes no sense. I am confused.

And now I’m further confused. Are these two waxworks supposed to convince me to buy from Kohl’s? Or, more specifically, to buy the new Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony collection? What say ye?
