Apologies for the radio silence on this end, have been up to my eyes working (on Christmas copy, heaven preserve me) and playing (last night at the Ticket’s inaugural table quiz, which I can only hope to do better at next time) and sleeping.

The point here, though, is that last night I was joined by Emma, a friend of mine, and her lovely husband, and, more importantly, her lovely new camel coat from Monsoon.

It was really, deliciously gorgeous – much more so than in the photograph above, although it did cause an inordinate amount of worry at where we would stash it, how to prevent its falling on the floor, and so on.

Winter coats are one of my seasonal must-buys, despite the fact that I currently own around 20. Each year I feel the need to invest in a new on-trend cover-up, my logic being that, no matter how dishevelled you are underneath, your coat will always make you look well put together. I’m now seriously coveting the above, although I frown upon purchasing things just because your friends have them, especially if they’re things as lovely as this.

The one gripe Emma had with her purchase, and I hope she won’t mind my disclosing this, is that it set her back €250 – whereas online the coat costs £160. Bad form, Monsoon, but good work otherwise.
