I asked this yesterday, and responses were very mixed – from Comptoirs des Cotonniers to Old Navy, but one store I’d like to see with a physical presence in Ireland is Anthropologie, purely from an aesthetic point of view.

This is the London store, which opened on Regent St last year. The store itself is gorgeous – a bit like Urban Outfitters but fancier, more cleanly laid out and with more of an upmarket sittingroom feel. The clothes themselves I can take or leave – and they are ridiculously overpriced – but the experience is second to none, and I am really partial to their doorknob displays, as hilarious as that might sound.

It’s a full-on retail experience, as opposed to a shopping experience: Anthropologie manages to create an entire world of living within its four walls. I know I sound like I’m gushing, but this isn’t promo bumph; I’ve bought one thing in Anthropologie in my whole life, a vintage-looking dress that I have yet to wear. It’s just one of my favourite retail and fashion spaces, perhaps rivalled (in my mind at least) only by 10 Corso Como in Milan.

Have you been into Anthropologie? Love or loathe?
