This year, Italian label Roberto Cavalli celebrates its 40th birthday and, fittingly, does so with Gisele Bundchen, who just celebrated her 30th.

I would like to imagine that Tyra would be none too pleased with the unladylike angle of Gisele’s leg in that last photograph, but otherwise these photographs are fairly eyecatching, if not very original: girly/tough, hello, there’s something we haven’t seen before.

Did I mention that I was once at a party that Gisele was at too? Sometimes when I tell this story I say, “oh yes, I met Gisele at a party”, as if we sat down on a mouldy couch and drank cans of beer together and ate canapés and gossipped about the host, before leaping up out of our seats to do a little dance and then change the music to something more danceable.

The reality, in fact, is that I saw her in the distance and thought, “who is that older woman who looks a little like Gisele?” This pleases me because I have always maintained, while stuffing my face with cheese, that the thinner one is, the quicker one will age. And we don’t all have photoshop! No, sir, we do not.
