Because this is a post about maternitywear, and people call babies buns in the oven, and . . . Oh, never mind. Anyway, right now Isabella Oliver is having a sale. We missed the 51% off day yesterday, but from now until Friday discounts are continuing apace, from 48% downwards until Friday.

I had a conversation with a friend, who is expecting, recently about maternitywear, and the minefield that is covering the bump. While we felt, collectively, it was important to cover said bump, and not walk around, WAG-style, with a sizeable gap between bump and T-shirt, there’s a fine line between something that makes it obvious that you’re pregnant and something that makes it look like you’re, well, fat.

Isabella Oliver strikes a perfect balance between class, modesty and style – beautiful colours, draped fabrics and ruching, ruching and more ruching. Really, really gorgeous.

For a high-street alternative, incidentally, take a look at Topshop‘s maternity range – it may be modest, but it has a selection of gorgeous patterns and fabrics, and often really interesting detailing. (I will confess to having picked myself up a gorgeous lime green jumper in Topshop maternity a few weeks ago . . . I swear you would never know. Except for how I just told you.)
