No, the urgent news is not that the SATC girls have all had plastic surgery and now vaguely resemble menopausal Barbies – it is, in fact, that Sex and the City 2: The Sequel That Should Never Have Been Bankrolled (following on from, of course, Sex and the City: The Movie That Should Never Have Been Bankrolled) will feature an Irish farm girl.

Not content with having created enough stereotypes by having, in movie one, the first prominent black character of the entire series fill the roll of Carrie’s maid (a maid who, having been given her own real Louis Vuitton bag by Carrie, her personal Mammy Warbucks, quickly runs back to her cheating ex-boyfriend in St Louis to settle down and, presumably, live happily ever after), the makers of SATC have decided that they need a good auld Oirish stereotype, and in comes Alice Eve as the farm girl – in the role of Charlotte’s maid, who casts doubt on Charlotte’s own happy-ever-after scenario.

One more foul step, SATC makers, and I will boycott this movie entirely. (Am currently resigned to the fact that, for the purposes of fashion research, I will go to the movie – but I will not like it. Oh no, I will not.)
