Whatever you think about blogging, there’s no doubt that it has changed how fashion and season collections are received and absorbed into the mainstream – blogging has an immediacy that no glossy magazine can ever hope to replicate, and its champions have the ability to be on top of each and every trend as and when it happens.

But something else has happened: as sites like ChictopiaLookbookWeardrobe and individual style blogs have risen in prominence, the way we receive trends and interpret them into our own looks has changed. I know that I, for one, look much more often to street style blogs like the SartorialistStockholm Street Style and Vanessa Jackman than to online glossies for inspiration if I wake up in a rut.

So what I’m trying to ask is: what inspires you? Do you take your cues from glossies like Vogue and Elle, or from people you see on the street, either online or in “the real world”? Would you like to see Dublin street style represented on this blog? Do you like seeing street style sections in newspapers? Is it something you look for or would request?

I love getting feedback, negative or positive, and as this blog is relatively new, anything that you’d like to see done will definitely be taken into consideration when planning future blog posts. Just let me know, either in the comments, or by e-mail at rmaccabe [at] irishtimes.com.
