I love when high-street names like Zara come out with lookbooks that look like high fashion; it just shows their willingness to try that little bit harder to get their product looking high-end.  H&M and Topshop are other good names when it comes to this trick.

This season’s Zara lookbook takes more than a little from Chloé and Alexander Wang; the former for its soft, camouflage-inspired colours and fabrics, and Wang for the dishevelled hair in his most recent lookbook (it’s fair to say that braids are going to be huge in the upcoming season,  and I’ll happily do a feature on them in the weeks to come – so if any hairdressers want to give me a hand in this regard, drop me an email at rmaccabe [at] irishtimes.com, as I am useless when it comes to anything more advanced than pinning and blowdrying).

The thing is, there’s nothing overly special about this collection; draped fabrics, neutral tones, shirts and slacks and a jumpsuit – so far, so 2009. But it’s the styling that makes it look so fresh, which is definitely a feat in itself and makes me want to go check the collection out. Is it all smoke and mirrors or do these items look amazing?
