I asked on Twitter the other day what people would like to see more of and, while most people ignored me (it was Saturday and they were all busy tweeting photographs of the snow), one response I got was “more menswear”. So, when I checked into WWD that evening, it was fortuitous that the first piece of fashion news to greet me was that of Matthew Williamson‘s debut menswear collection, to launch in February.

The line will range in price, according to WWD, from £195 to £450, and will be sold in Williamson’s own stores and in Harrods in London – so we’ll have to travel if we want to get our mitts on it. However, I’m not that sure whether or not the Irish buachaillí will be running out in their droves to get decked out in Williamson’s trademark brights. As first collections go, it’s alright, but Williamson is, of course, coasting on the back of his womenswear success, and one can imagine that it will be onward and upward from here on in.

There are some cute scarves here, plus the motif sweaters are interesting, but perhaps moreso for women – the sky blue cashmere would look lovely on me fella, but I somehow can’t see him forking out for it, and I’m only that generous when it comes to myself. . . So what do you think? Will you be buying one for your mister, or waiting to see what comes next?
