City Fall Apart On Final Day

Monday, May 20th, 2013 at 9:55 am by Phil Mc Grath

They do say that on any given day that anything can happen, especially in football. Sunday turned out to be one of those days as the former Champions Manchester City fell apart and lost out to the Canaries at the Eithad.

Things didn't exactly go to plan for City as Brian Kidd to charge of their final game of the season.

Despite being without a manager we stall fancied City’s chances of finishing the season strongly and with Norwich coming to town a clean sheet looked like it was a fairly safe bet, oh how wrong were we?

City had produced five clean sheets in the previous seven in front of their own fans, while Chris Hughton’s side had  very poor on the road this seson, scoring just twice in the seven away games prior to yesterday’s showdown.

But with caretaker boss Brian Kidd taking charge and then opting to make a number of changes things went down hill quickly for City, bringing their dreadful season stuttered to a finish with a 3-2 defeat.

Brian Kidd chose to partner Micah Richards and Matija Nastasic at the back, with Carlos Tevez joined by Edin Dzeko up top. Replaced by Sergio Aguero just after the break, Tevez finished as City’s top points scorer despite returning a single assist in his last six matches, while Aguero finished the campaign on 102 points.

Looking ahead to next season, City are sure to be there or there abouts once again, but with the new manager yet to be confirmed our fantasy faith could be tested depending on just who gets the job.
