The final round of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League will play out this weekend as the Premier League draws to a close on Sunday afternoon.
With the league title won and already presented to Manchester United last weekend and Wigan joining Reading & Q.P.R. earlier this week as the third team to be relegated there is only one part of the Premier League table to be decided this weekend that matters.
This is of course the final Champions League qualification spot that Arsenal are favourites to take ahead of Tottenham.
Many Premier League stars will have their holidays booked and some may already be on the beach, it is difficult to find players who have the motivation to put in 110%.Taking this into consideration we have decided to back a player that made it into our Captain Tips last week.
Daniel Sturridge was on song as he scored a hat-trick against Fulham to the delight of those fantasy football managers who gave him the armband. Liverpool entertain a QPR team that appear to be getting worse even though we didn’t think that was possible. It has been a positive season for Brendan Rogers and Liverpool as he collected more Premier League points than last season and his January signings of Sturridge and Coutinho have been excellent over the last five games.
Tottenham’s player of the season Gareth Bale will really be looking for a win against Sunderland. The White Hart Lane faithful are delighted that Sunderland’s Premier League status for next season has been confirmed ahead of this fixture. A big home win for Tottenham weil be demanded by their fans because if Arsenal fail to win they could claim the final remaining Champions League spot themselves.
Our final selection to get the nod as a possible captain pick is big Andy Carroll. The young English forward is still on loan from Liverpool and with West Ham unlikely to be able to afford to purchase him his future is in doubt. West Ham have not scored in their last two Premier League outings but the Hammers will be looking to close the season with a bang! On a personal level Carroll will be looking to add to his goal scoring total of seven for the season. Carroll missed much of the season with injury but has put in some strong performances lately including a goal against Manchester City in round 35 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League.
