Sturridge Makes A Case For Captaincy

Monday, May 13th, 2013 at 7:42 pm by Phil Mc Grath

In last week’s tip we spoke about the potential of Daniel Sturridge despite the fact that he drew a blank in the Merseyside derby the week before and he didn’t let us down as he returned to goal scoring form at Craven Cottage

Daniel Sturridge was in flying form last weekend picking up a hat-trick against Fulham

Brendan Rodgers started with a 3-5-2 formation, handing Philippe Coutinho the role in “the hole” behind the former Chelsea man and watched on as the pair racked up the points between them.

Sturridge’s superb hat-trick means he now produced ten goals and five assists in  13 league appearances since making the move to Merseyside in January and with a home clash against QPR next up, many will be handing him the armband for the final fixture week of the season.

We also spoke about the potential of Phillipe Coutinho prior to the game at Craven Cottage and he too didn’t let us down as he went on to pick up a pair of assists.

Coutinho has now produced attacking returns in five of his last six away games but the big question will have to be whether or not he can produce the goods this coming weekend when Liverpool welcome QPR to Anfield.

Liverpool’s final game of the season is sure to attract attention from fantasy managers after their display last time out, but with Brendan Rodgers having already hinted at more squad rotation to come fantasy managers are advised to keep a close eye on the Liverpool line up.
