Football is a funny old game, one minute you look to be safe from relegation and the next minute you have been dragged right back into the relegation battle and things just don’t seem to be going your way.
While Sunderland were never too far away from the drop zone they looked to be out of danger but having lost to Aston Villa and then failed to beat Stoke they are right back in the mix.
Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio will be feeling the pressure going into the final two games of the season and with injury or suspension depriving Sunderland of Steven Fletcher, Stephane Sessegnon and Craig Gardner for the last couple of matches his task isn’t getting any easier.
One man who is going to have to step up to the mark for the Black Cat’s is Adam Johnson, the former City winger was anded a role in “the hole” behind Danny Graham against Stoke and looks set to stay there for the remainder of the season.
Johnson’s move to a more advanced central role certainly looks set to improve his chances of picking up attacking returns over the last two games and with Sunderland’s backs firmly against the wall he is going to have too.
A home game against Southampton this weekend looks crucial before the Black Cats make their way to Tottenham in the last weekend of the season and with an ownership rate of less than 3% Johnson could well prove to be a valuable differential for fantasy managers
