Fantasy Football Tips: Midfielders For Round 37 Of The Irish Times Fantasy Premier League

Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 at 10:10 am by Phil Mc Grath

We have reached the penultimate week of the fantasy premier league season and for fantasy managers it’s do or die time, with only 21 games left to go this season it’s all or nothing as managers try and claim top spot in their leagues.

Round 37 kicked off last night with Wigan and Swansea finishing up 2-3 to Swansea and Manchester City and West Brom finishing up 1-0 to City, there is another game on the cards tonight as Chelsea welcome Tottenham to the Bridge and with both side eager to claim a champions league place this one could provide plenty of points, not to mention the fact that both sides play twice in the round.

So having already taken a look at goalkeepers and defenders it’s time for us to focus in on midfielders for the this week’s fixtures.

Phillipe Couthinho (Liverpool) £4.1 million Fixture: Fulham (Away)

Last week’s 0-0 draw at Anfield against their local rivals will have done nothing to help improve Liverpool’s chances of gaining a Europa League spot for next season and with only two games to go it looks unlikely that they will qualify outright.

Gareth Bale (Tottenham) £5.4 million Fixtures: Chelsea & Stoke (Away)

There is no arguing with the fact that for fantasy premier league managers Gareth Bale has been one of, if not the most valuable players in the league this season and with two weeks to go he is showing no signs of slowing down.

Adam Johnson (Sunderland) £4.4 million Fixture: Southampton (Home)

Football is a funny old game, one minute you look to be safe from relegation and the next minute you have been dragged right back into the relegation battle and things just don’t seem to be going your way.

Hatem Ben Arfa (Newcastle) £4.1 million Fixture: QPR (Away)

To say it has been a disappointing season for Hatem Ben Arfa is an understatement, the French international has missed much of the season with a hamstring problem and despite not being fully recovered Alan Pardew has called him back into the side.
