Three Games Left for Vertonghen to Improve on his Impressive First Season

The race for Champions League qualification is getting more exciting and  Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen has been a key player for them during this tense run in.

Jan Verthonghen has scored five goals and eight clean sheets so far this season

The Belgium international was part of the Tottenham defence that picked up a clean sheet against Southampton last weekend bringing his total to eight for the season.

Vertonghen is an expensive choice but similar to Baines its his attacking threat that intrigues us most. Jan has scored five goals and picked up three assists so far this season.

With Tottenham in need of goals and points from their last three games against Chelsea, Stoke and Sunderland they will be counting on Vertonghen to keep it tight at the back and get forward when he can.

For fantasy managers off course round 37 see’s Tottenham play twice against Chelsea and Stoke away and for those looking to make the most of it Vertonghen looks to be a good option for the double.

Although all of these games will be high pressure situations it does appear that the final two fixtures offer real clean sheet and goal scoring potential, the question is will Tottenham have enough to grab that Champions League spot?
