Last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Wigan will have surely left the Tottenham players feeling a little down about their prospects of picking up a Champions League spot next season, but for Gareth Bale I’m sure the disappointment didn’t last too long.
Bale was named the PFA Player Of The Year and Young Player Of The Year at the PFA Awards on Sunday night and in truth you would be hard pressed to say that he didn’t deserve both.
His performances throughout the season have been outstanding, especially from a fantasy point of view and as we prepare for round 36 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League the big question is can you afford not to have him in your side?
The answer in short is no! Having picked up a goal and an assist in round 35 to add to the 18 goals and eight assists he had already accumulated during the course of the season he is bang on form ahead of the clash with Southampton.
The Welsh winger has picked up 3 goals and 3 assists in his last three appearances and with the Saints coming to town on the back of that 3-0 defeat at the hands of West Brom Tottenham will certainly fancy their chances.
Not only beaten 3-0 the Saints also had Daniel Fox and Gaston Ramirez sent off during the game which means that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be forced to reshuffle at the back, not ideal preparation for a trip to White Hart Lane.
It is also worth noting that Tottenham and Bale play twice during round 37 so bringing him in this week assuming you don’t have him already will set you up nicely for the double the following week.
