Round 35 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League turned out to be a rather good weekend for Arsenal as in terms of their Champions League aspirations, having picked up a point against United, they would have been very pleased to see Spurs fail to beat Wigan.
Tottenham’s failure to beat Wigan means that Arsenal are still in the Champions League places but Tottenham do have a game in hand, so there can afford to be no further slip ups from Arsene Wenger’s men.
The Gunners make the short trip across London to take on the already relegated QPR at Loftus Road and they will be keen to keep the R’s out as they go in search of the three points.
Per Merteascker immediately pops to mind for this weekend’s games, the Gunners center half has been almost ever present this season and with three goals to his name, one of which came two weeks ago he could be a key fantasy differential to consider.
Arsenal have the best clean sheet record on the road this season with seven to their credit and with the R’s down and out and failing to find the net with any regularity in recent weeks a clean sheet looks likely for Vertonghen.
Much like Nigel Adkins at Reading, Harry Redknapp is likely to use the remainder of the season to evaluate his squad for life in the Championship next season so we expect some changes to be made that could see the R’s struggle to find any coherence up top.
