Having spoken about his potential in last week’s managers notes Romelu Lukaku was once again in the points as he helped West Brom see off the challenge of Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday.
The Bagggies ran out 3-0 winners on the day and with Lukaku picking up a goal and two assists along the way the belgian center forward once again showed why he is a real fantasy asset.
Saturday’s performance continues an outstanding run of form which has seen him score or assist in nine of his 11 starts since January 1st.
Steve Clarke’s decision to switch to a 4-3-3 had a huge impact on the Baggies performance with Lukaku starting along side Shane Long and Marc-Antoine Fortune.
However with Fortune now suspended for the remainder of the season Clarke’s ability to adopt a 4-3-3 may well be limited, unless he welcomes Peter Odemwingie back into the starting lineup for the remaining matches which looks highly unlikely despite the fact the Nigerian was on the bench for Saturday’s clash.
Shane Long was another who was among the points after he picked up his first goal in nine appearances, but the Irishman’s performance will in truth have done little to wet the appetite of fantasy investors.
West Brom face a double fixture week in round 37 and Lukaku could be a wise investment for those two games with managers getting maximum exposer to the double with the in form forward.
