Having published our thoughts on the top players for you to be considering ahead of round 35 our attention now turns to that all important captain decision and as every fantasy manager knows the right decision can make all the difference.
The absence of both Suarez and Giroud make this week’s decision a little trickier but it does however open the door for a few differentials to have a say in the captain’s debate.
As usual we will be bringing you the latest weekend team news a little later this afternoon so be sure to check back in with us for that, but for now let us take a closer look at the possible captains for round 35 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League.
Gareth Bale makes a welcome return to our captain tips this weekend and after his impressive return to the Tottenham team last weekend against Manchester City it is easy to see why he has made the cut. Spurs travel to Wigan knowing that they need to keep the pressure on Chelsea and Arsenal above them in the race for a Champions League spot for next season. Bale picked up a goal and an assist last week and you have to fancy him to continue on where he left off against struggling Wigan come Saturday.
After his hat-trick on Monday night it’s only fair that Robin van Persie makes a return to our captain tips for round 35. Having been heavily tipped last weekend the Dutchman didn’t let us down with a wonderful 14 points. This weekend van Persie visits his old stomping ground as United take on Arsenal and with the title safely secured the Manchester United striker will want to put in a good performance against his old club.
Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke makes the cut this week as Villa prepare to take on fellow strugglers Sunderland at Villa Park. Benteke has been quiet in the last two weeks having failed to register any attacking points but with Villa so reliant on his goals if they are to have any hope of staying up Benteke has to start scoring. There is no doubting that this game is going to be close, but with Benteke’s ability and Villa’s need for points he should get on the scoresheet this weekend.
