This weekend’s game between Aston Villa and Sunderland is probably one of, if not the most important game to be played this coming weekend. With both side still looking for points to secure their safety the ramifications of a loss for either side could be huge.
Villa currently site one place above the drop zone on 34 points, while Sunderland are four places above the relegation zone on 37 points and a win for either could see them put day light between themselves and Wigan.
The need for the win for Aston Villa is obviously greater and with a home fixture on the cards this is a game they will have earmarked as a must win if they are to survive, enter Christian Benteke.
The Villa striker has notched up 15 goals this season and four assists and if Paul Lambert’s side are to avoid the drop then his contributions are going to be critical this weekend.
Having failed to register attacking points in his last two outings Benteke will be keen to return to the type of form that saw him score in his four previous games prior to his recent blanks.
Sunderland are going to be no pushovers however, since the introduction of their new manager the Black Cats have scored four goals in two games and have not conceded a goal, but like I said with the Villa need far outweighing that of Sunderland we expect Benteke to rise to the occasion and pick up where he left off in round 32.
