As we prepare for round 35 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League one game that sticks out this coming weekend is the visit of Sunderland to Villa Park as they take on fellow strugglers Aston Villa.
Sunderland head to the midlands four places clear of the relegation zone, but crucially they are only three points clear of Aston Villa who sit precariously balanced just above the drop zone on 34 points.
A win for either side in this one could have huge implications on their season and neither side will be willing to go down without a fight, should Sunderland win they will be all but assured safety, while a defeat to Villa will drag them back into the battle at the bottom.
Sunderland’s renewed form has come at just the right time and with new manager opting to push Stephane Sessegnon into a more advanced midfield role the Benin international is sure to have a staring role in the game on Monday night.
Since Di Canio’s arrival Sessegnon has picked up two goals and an assist from his new found role and as a result fantasy managers have been keen to bring him in with a view to a few cheeky differential points.
There is no doubting that on the day this one could go either way but with Sessegnon in good form and Villa’s defence less than reliable of late regardless of the result Sunderland and Sessegnon are sure to get chances at Villa Park.
