With all the talk of van Persie’s goal drought well and truly over the Manchester United striker will be setting his sights on the golden boot at the end of the season especially with Suarez now drawing blanks.
The former Arsenal man has responded to the critics in the best way possible with two goals in two games and with Aston Villa to come this weekend he will be keen to bridge the one goal deficit between himself and Luis Suarez.
At this point in the season there is very little we can tell you about van Persie that you don’t already know, we all know he has 21 goals for the season and 13 assists and we all know that he can score from pretty much any situation.
So the big question is simply this, can he get more goals this weekend against Aston Villa?
The answer has to be yes, the Villa defence has only managed one clean sheet on the road this season and that will have to be a major concern for Paul Lambert heading to the current league leaders and the side that have scored 40 goals at home this season.
Traditionally Villa have suffered at Old Trafford with last years encounter finishing 4-0 to United and a repeat could be on the cards with this game normally seeing United produce over 3.5 goals per game over the last number of years.
So it would seem that RVP is certainly one of the safer bets this weekend with struggling Villa coming to town, it would seem that the only question remaining is how many will United and van Persie score?
