If we turn the clocks back four weeks it would have been hard to imagine that Gervinho would be a player that we would be touting fantasy managers to consider for their team, but that is exactly what has happened.
Since making a return to the first team in round 30 the Ivorian has shown that he has what it takes to make an impact at Arsenal and has picked up two goals and three assists in just three appearances.
It is also worth noting that he hasn’t actually played a full 90 minutes since round 8 but this hasn’t seemed to effect his potential, even coming off bench with 20 minutes to go against Swansea he was able to grab a goal and make his mark on the game.
Another factor worth considering is that while he is listed as a striker he has been deployed out wide on the left with either Podolski or Giroud up front, but once again this hasn’t hampered his fantasy returns.
Gervinho has started the last two games for the Gunners and while Wilshere and Walcott both have an outside chance of being fit for this weekend’s game with Norwich it would seem unlikely that Wenger would drop a player in such good form.
Norwich make the trip to the Emirates with only two clean sheets on the road this season under their belt and having conceded six goals in their last three away games they could find themselves hard pressed to keep the Gunners out.
There is no doubting that Gervinho is a slightly riskier option that his team mate Cazorla for example but with many managers looking for a differential this weekend Gervinho could be the right man for the job if the Gunners can come out firing on all cylinders.
