Heading into this weekend’s Premier League action Aston Villa were sitting precariously just outside the drop zone on 30 points with those below them not too far away, but after picking up three points on Saturday the Villans have given themselves a chance of survival.
Paul Lambert’s men picked up a 3-1 win over Stoke at the Britannia on Saturday and now find themselves on 33 points and more importantly within touching distance of the three clubs above them.
Once again it was Gabby Agbonlahor who got Villa up and running notching up his third goal in four games in the process and having picked up an assist last time out the almost forgotten man at Villa has sparked into life and in the process is catching the eye of many fantasy managers.
It would seem that Agbonlahor’s placement on the left side of midfield has not extinguished his thirst for goals and more importantly for fantasy managers it has not stopped him getting in on the act up front. While the temptation to bring Agbonlahor into your fantasy team is clear his out of position role could prove troublesome over the coming weeks.
One man however who is right where we want him is Christian Benteke, the Belgian international was back on the scoresheet once again to continue his impressive form since the turn of the year.
The Villa front man has now scored in nine of his twelve appearances since the new year and managed to find the net in his last four games, Benteke’s form has not gone unnoticed and while there is no doubting that Agbonlahor’s potential as a differential is tempting Benteke’s sure fire form looks to be the safest way of investing in the Villa revival.
