As we prepare for this weekend’s fantasy action our coaches have been listening intently to all the managers press conferences and compiled all the latest team news for you to be aware of ahead of round 32 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League.
The first port of call has to be the injury to Gareth Bale the Welsh international was stretchered off during Tottenham’s Europa league clash with Basel and having feared we wouldn’t see him for the rest of the season Spurs boss Andrea Villas Boas has confirmed that he expects Bale back in training in two weeks time after scans revealed that he had sprained ankle ligaments. AVB also confirmed that William Gallas (calf strain) and Aaron Lennon (soft tissue contusion below the knee) all underwent scans today and they too are expected to be out of action for two to three weeks.
Everton face Tottenham this weekend and David Moyes has stated that it will be ‘touch and go’ whether Kevin Mirallas will be fit enough to play against Spurs this Sunday.
In Machester Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that Robin van Persie does not need a rest and he is backing him to get back to scoring ways this weekend, while Wayne Rooney and Rafael are back in training and Sir Alex is hopefully that they will be ok for Monday. While he does admit he still has concerns over Jonny Evans and Nemanja Vidic who are both expected to return to training on Saturday morning.
On the other side of Machester Roberto Mancini has told us that only Micah Richards and Maicon have been ruled out of Monday’s game with United and that everyone else is fit for the game.
Raheem Sterling is Liverpool’s only injury concern ahead of their game with West Ham, while Sam Allardyce has admitted that Mark Noble is still recovering from the trapped nerve problem and Joe Cole still has the hamstring problem and both will be sidelined this weekend.
Fulham are set to make the trip to Newcastle without both Ashkan Dejagah and Mladen Petric who are sidelined with injury and Steve Sidwell’s appeal against his red card against QPR has been denied and he will serve the full three match ban imposed, starting this weekend.
Alan Pardew will also be with two key men in Massadio Haidara and Mathieu Debuchy who haven’t recovered from injury in time for this weekend’s game with the Cottagers.
Things are going from bad to worse for Harry Redknapp and QPR after the club announced that Shaun Wright-Phillips will be out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
Over the other side of London Arsene Wenger has said that Nacho Monreal is available for this weekend’s game with West Brom and that both Walcott and Wilshere are back running and have an “outside chance” of making home match with Norwich in round 33. While West Brom have announced that they expect to have James Morrison back for this weekend.
Swansea boss Michael Laudrup expects to have Chico Flores, Angel Rangel and Kemy Agustien back in action this weekend after all three took part in training this week.
And finally Stoke boss Tony Pulis admitted that his only concern ahead of the Potters game with Aston Villa is Matthew Etherington who is a doubt, but he hopes he can recover in time.
Similarly Paul Lambert is awaiting news on Andreas Weimann who limped off against Liverpool, while he admits that this weekend could be too soon for Ciaran Clark.
