Looking at the premier league table Newcastle could be forgiven for thinking that with all that has gone on at the other clubs around them that their premier league survival is assured, but that’s not the case.
Sitting just three points clear of the drop zone and having lost three of their last four games they are far from safe, but with three of their next four game at home they will have the chance to distance themselves from the bottom.
One man who will be key to Newcastle’s form is in form striker Papiss Cisse, the Senegalese forward has scored three of his last four goals in front of the St James Park crowd and Alan Pardew will be hoping he can continue that trend when they welcome Fulham up north this weekend.
Having picked up a goal and an assist in his last three appearances Cisse is beginning to find form at just the right time and with Moussa Sissoko also finding form infront of the home support they will be keen to continue a run that has seen them win three in a row at home.
Fulham travel to Newcastle showing a bit of form themselves, the Cottagers are unbeaten in their last three games, but having suffered a bit of a scare last time out against QPR the cracks may be starting to appear again.
The absence of their midfield enforcer Steve Sidwell will also be a big blow for Martin Jol’s side after he was shown a straight red against the R’s last weekend and will undoubtedly dent their chances of maintaining their recent defensive good form that has seen them pick up three clean sheets in their last five games.
There is no doubting that Newcastle need to start finding points and with Cisse and Sissoko showing good form infront of their home support they are sure to get chances this weekend and hopefully Cisse can capitalise on them and bring in those much needed fantasy points.
