Things are really starting to heat up at both ends of the table with only nine games left in the season and at this point given their precarious league position the last thing Mauricio Pochettino and Southampton would have wanted is a visit from an in form Liverpool.
Well that I’m afraid is exactly what they are going to get come the weekend. Liverpool make the trip to St Mary’s unbeaten in their last three and having scored 12 goals in the process, again not what you want to see when you are struggling at the wrong end of the table.
With five goals and three assists in those last five games Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is playing like a man possessed as he goes in search of the golden boot that at one point looked to only have one home, Robin van Persie’s home.
But having pulled out all the stops and of course aided by an in form team Suarez and Liverpool are on a bit of a charge and still in with a hope of securing Champions League football next season, all be it a slim hope, but hope non the less.
The Saint’s on the other hand are lying dangerously close to the relegation zone and with those around them perhaps facing more favourable games this weekend, they could well be in the drop zone come Monday.
As far as their chances of containing Suarez go, they look slim, three clean sheets at St Mary’s all season doesn’t exactly inspire confidence and while they are sure to give it their all and put up a fight, fantasy managers would be wise to bring in Suarez this weekend, if they haven’t already done so.
