If you were a care taker manager put in charge of overseeing your sides bid for Premier League survival for the next few games, the last place you would want to go is Old Trafford right? Well that’s exactly what waits in store for Reading caretaker boss Eamonn Dolan.
The former Republic of Ireland international and brother of Pat Dolan is set to take charge at Old Trafford this weekend as Reading try and find a replacement for Brian McDermott who was sacked earlier in the week.
Under normal circumstances you would have to feel sorry for Dolan and Reading but for fantasy managers this could be a shameless chance to exploit Reading’s recent upheaval and bring in those much needed fantasy points.
And when it comes to bringing in the points there aren’t many better than Manchester United’s Robin van Persie, the former Arsenal man has 19 goals and 12 assists to his credit this season, meaning he has played a part in almost 50% of United’s goals this season.
Having played out a thrilling 4-3 game back in December I think it is fair to assume we are going to see goals in this one, but with the Reading defence having conceded 29 goals at home this season, second only to Wigan’s 31, they will have a hard time stopping RVP getting back on track in the race for the golden boot.
At this point the debate between fantasy managers over whether or not it is time to sell van Persie still rages on in some quarters, but with such a fixture on the cards and his form unwavering it would be foolish to look elsewhere this weekend for more fantasy points.
