Having had there usual ups and downs in the Premier League that time of the year has come once again for Wigan to step up to the plate and start winning games like they have done over previous seasons.
As we have seen in the past Wigan’s ability to beat all around them come the last few weeks of the season is astonishing and with the Latics currently sitting in the drop zone now would be a good time to kick into gear.
Having emphatically beaten Everton in the F.A Cup last weekend all the signs are there that Wigan are about to burst into life and for fantasy managers this is one of the best times to pick up a differential or two as you look to close the gap on the league leaders.
Shaun Maloney is one such differential that fantasy managers should be keeping a close eye on and with a home game on the cards this weekend against Newcastle it may be time to bring him in.
The former Celtic and Villa midfielder had up until recently shown only slight glimmers of form throughout the season, but with two goals in his last four league games he looks to have found some consistency and with Maloney having a share in the set pieces and corners we could well see him add to his six assists this season.
Newcastle of course will not go down without a fight and they too are playing good football at the moment, but having conceded five goals in their last three home games Wigan and Maloney are sure to get chances come Sunday.
