Since making his big money mover from Aston Villa in 2011 Stewart Downing’s impact on the Liverpool team has been questionable, at best, but with the teams form beginning to be pick up the England international has also raised his game in recent weeks.
Downing’s fantasy contributions since making the move to Anfield have been few and far between and as a result his ownership rates have been minimal over the course of not only this season but previous seasons too.
Well, that all may be about to change as we head into the final nine weeks of the season, Liverpool have picked up some good form and are looking like a team that could seriously challenge for a Champions league spot if they continue to play the way they are playing.
With that said Stewart Downing certainly hasn’t been a passenger in this newly found in form side, he has been slowly but surely working his way up to speed and now looks to be right on top of his game.
The former Villa man has picked up two goals and two assists in his last seven appearances and with those two goals coming in the last two games now might just be the time to invest in this differential while he is in full flow.
Liverpool travel to Southampton this weekend in a game that in truth the Saints could do with winning, but with the Red’s on such a charge having notched up 12 goals in their last three games it looks unlikely that Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be able to curb them.
