While there is no doubting that Luis Suarez grabbed all the headlines over last weekend as he grabbed a hat-trick against Wigan, the performance of Philippe Coutinho showed that he too offers fantasy managers a viable option in the Liverpool midfield.
Coutinho and will have certainly attracted some interest from fantasy managers going into round 29 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League.
Having been given a free role by Bendan Rogers to wander in the 4-3-3 formation on Saturday to link attack and midfield, the young Brazilian was hugely effective, providing two assists on the day against Wigan.
While the Latcis struggled to contain his runs and close control it was his range of passing that impressed most and having produced attacking returns in both his starts he looks to have settled in well at Anfield.
The visit to Tottenham of course will be a different prospect from the one faced last weekend but with his pace and ability there is no doubting that he will cause the Spurs defence problems at Anfield come Sunday.
With plenty of fantasy managers opting for the more expensive Steven Gerrard in their side, Coutinho offers a cheaper alternative and the much sought after differential for fantasy managers in need of one.
Although Coutinho he’s yet to get near to completing 90 minutes in the league, having played the last two games for the Red’s he is surely set to get closer to the full 90 this weekend.
