Looking at the fixture for round 29 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League one thing become abundantly clear Queens Park Rangers are going to have to take something from this weekend’s game with Sunderland if they are to stand any hope of staying up.
The R’s go into this weekend 20 points off that magical 40 point mark but more importantly 4 points behing Wigan who are in 17th place on goal difference.
While many have written of the R’s at this point it is certainly not a foregone conclusion that they will be relegated and with Christopher Samba at the back they do have some hope.
The former Blackburn defender has had a good impact since his arrival in January and despite the fact that Harry’s men have lost their last three games they have actually kept four clean sheets at home this season, which is more than Tottenham can say.
When we take a closer look at their recent home record it is not actually all that bad, in fact they have kept three clean sheets in their last four home games with Manchester United prevailing where Norwich, Manchester City and Tottenham have failed.
Samba will be key this weekend if the R’s are to stop Sunderland but given that they make the trip to Loftus Road having only won one of their last six games and with both Danny Graham and Steven Fletcher failing to find the next in their last five games there is hope for Redknapp’s side.
