The Uruguayan was one goal behind van Persie heading into the weekend in the race for the Golden Boot, but after his hat-trick and van Persie’s inability to get on the score sheet against the Canaries, Suarez is now in pole position for the prestigious award with 21 goals, two clear on RVP on 19.
After Daniel Sturridge failed to shake off a knock in time for the game against Wigan at the DW Stadium Suarez was once again offered the opportunity to lead the line for Liverpool and boy did he take his chance.
With a number of sides not set to feature in round 29 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League Liverpool and Suarez are one such team that do have a game, further adding to the appeal of the league’s top scorer.
While it is unclear at this early stage in the week whether or not Sturridge will be fit to play this weekend one thing we do know is that Brendan Rodgers is clearly unwilling to take any risks with the former Chelsea man.
This means that Suarez could well find himself leading the line once again if Sturridge continues to be troubled with what appears to be an ongoing thigh problem.
Another factor worth considering when looking at the potential of the Liverpool number 7 is the fact that the Red’s have only the league to concentrate on after they were knocked out of both the F.A Cup and the Europa League.
So with Liverpool’s sights firmly set on the league the likelihood of Suarez be rested over the coming weeks is almost no existent.
