Having pulled of a shock 3-1 victory over Manchester City things looked to be on the up for Southampton and when they went 1-0 up at St James Park you could have been forgiven for thinking that their relegation worries were almost over, but that wasn’t to be the case after they eventually lost the game 4-2.
The result aside there were a number of positives to be taken from the game as far as Mauricio Pochettino is concerned and he is not the only one who is looking at the positives heading into their relegation six pointer against QPR.
Rickie Lambert is one such example of the positive things about the Saints and he is one that we have a very close eye on ahead of the clash at St Mary’s on Saturday.
The former Bristol Rovers striker has been in flying form in recent weeks and despite losing out to Newcastle last weekend Lambert was on hand to grab a goal and an assist to keep his good run going.
Lambert has notched up an incredible six goals and five assists in his last ten games and currently finds himself as the forth top scorer in the league behind RVP, Suarez and Ba and when you consider his price tag it makes for even better reading.
Harry Redknapp’s QPR make the trip to St Mary’s having conceded six goals in their last two games and with Lambert on the type of run his is on there is no doubting that if he gets half a sniff he will make the R’s pay.
