Monday night’s game at Upton Park was undoubtedly the Gareth Bale show, but another player who also deserves some credit is West Ham’s Joe Cole, Cole’s performance excellent and although rather unfortunately for him it has been over shadowed by Bale’s wonder goal.
The former Chelsea and Liverpool midfielder has been slowly creeping up the pecking order in terms of fantasy potential for the remainder of the season and Monday night’s performance typified not only the threat he possess but his ability to influence games.
Admittedly Cole is not the first name that will pop into fantasy managers minds when they are looking to strengthen their midfield but as they season draws to a close he could be a valuable differential for fantasy managers to consider.
Since his switch to West Ham we have seen flashes of form from the Hammers prodigal son but not enough to suggest that he can maintain that level over a sustained number of weeks.
Well after his performance on Monday he may have just convinced fantasy football managers to take a second look ahead of West Ham’s trip to the Britannia Stadium this weekend.
Stoke were at one point the go to guys for clean sheets in the early part of the season but all that seems to have faded away and unfortunately for both them and fantasy managers they haven’t managed a clean sheet since the 22nd of December.
While the Hammers haven’t exactly been setting the world on fire their performance on Monday suggests there is more to come from “Big Sam’s” side and Cole in particular.
A goal and an assist in his last two games prove he has the capability and with a low ownership rate and rather favourable fixture he could be a valuable differential for fantasy managers looking to get a leg up.
