Chelsea’s recent slump in form over the last few week’s has certainly cause concern for fantasy managers, with Rafa’s insistance in rotating his players it would seem that both Demba Ba and Fernando Torres are just too risky to select week in week out, but that’s not to say there is not value to be had in the Chelsea ranks.
Frank Lampard is a one of a handful of Chelsea players who seems to have gone untouched by Rafa’s rotation policy and has been ever present in the Chelsea line up since round 18 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League.
At this point Lampard’s contract talks or lack of for that matter have been well documented over recent weeks and as with many players, when they are in the shop window so to speak we tend to see the best of them and that is certainly the case with Lampard.
The 34 year old has picked up 11 goals this season and shows no sign of slowing down over recent weeks as he powers on in an attempt to beat Bobby Tambling’s all-time record of 202 goals for Chelsea.
With the news that Lampard will be rested for Chelsea Europa League clash against Sparta Prague in midweek, Lamps will surely feature in this weekend’s Premier League clash with Manchester City.
There is no doubting that this weekend’s clash with Manchester City will be a tough test for the Pensioners but with Lampard in such fine fettle, scoring five goals in his last six he could well be the man to drive Chelsea on and pull the strings in the middle of the park.
