Having acquitted himself excellently in Madrid midweek David de Gea will have undoubtedly caught himself a few fantasy admirers heading into this weekend’s clash with basement club Queens Park Rangers.
The United shot stopper has been given the vote of confidence by the United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and looks to repaying his faith with some outstanding performances of late.
United and de Gea go into this weekend’s fixture with the R’s on the back of two successive clean sheets and it would seem that confidence is high at the back for the current league leaders. The Red’s and de Gea have kept four clean sheets in their last seven games and more impressively they have not conceded more than one goal in a game since Newcastle put three past them back in round 19.
QPR’s goal scoring record at home this season is yet another reason why de Gea could be on for another clean sheet, the R’s have only managed to score eight goals at Loftus Road all season which is far and away the worst record of any team in the top flight with their last goal at home coming back in round 19 when they went down 2-1 to West Brom.
In truth despite the R’s new found belieft at the back it has done little encourage their strikers and with new signing Loic Remy still a doubt heading into this Saturday’s clash de Gea and United could well be on for their fourth clean sheet in a row.
