Having taken a close look at your options for Goalkeepers, Defenders and Midfielders when it comes to deploying your unlimited transfers during the week long transfer window in the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League the logical next step is of course to focus in on Strikers and that is exactly what we have done.
Our coaches here in “The Managers Office” have been hard at work looking at the fantasy prospects of the league’s forwards and have identified a number of strikers they expect big things from over the remainder of the season.
Robin Van Persie (Manchester United) £8.5 Million
The Dutch striker has only failed to return either a goal or an assist in five games including substitute appearances this season and as a result Van Persie is the league’s top scorer with 19 goals.Goals aside Van Persie has been key to United’s success this season and with 10 assists to his credit it is easy to see why.
Luis Suarez (Liverpool) £7.1 Million
here is no doubting that Suarez has found his goal scoring form this season under Brendan Rogers and realistically is probably the only one who can challenge Van Persie for the golden boot this season. The arrival of Daniel Sturridge to Anfield looks to have forced Suarez from his regular out and out forward position to playing in “the hole” behind the former Chelsea man or out on the flanks, but this change has not seemed to bother the Liverpool number 7.
Rickie Lambert (Southampton) £5.7 Million
Lambert’s rise through the football leagues has been well documented and with many feeling that the premier league may have be a step to far for the man from Liverpool but to his credit Lambert has gone onto to score 11 goals and rack up 5 assits this season and as a result finds himself in fourth place in the striker standings.
Christian Benteke (Aston Villa) £5.5 Million
The Belgian international has racked up 11 goals and 4 assists this season and with five of those eleven coming in his last four games Benteke is the most inform striker in the league which is remarkable given Villa’s current league standing. Villa are one point clear of the relegation zone and there is no doubting that they have their work cut out for them if they are to avoid the drop.
