Unlimited Transfer Guide: Goalkeepers

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013 at 2:19 pm by Phil Mc Grath

The unlimited transfer window has swinging into action for fantasy premier league managers now is the time to a closer look at you fantasy prospects and make those all important changes that could be the difference between winning and losing.

With the window in play, or at least pending for us all, we’re going to look at each position in turn, assessing the likely targets that warrant attention in our squad shake-ups.

Our first venture into the transfer market will see us focus on goalkeepers. We have examined each and everyone as we put their form, fixtures and potential under the microscope and come up with the top four candidates we feel you should be considering.

Joe Hart (Manchester City) £4.6 Million

What may however surprise fantasy managers is that fact that despite some recent disappointing displays Hart is currently the highest ranking goalkeeper in the Irish Times Fantasy Premier. With 72 points to his credit the City shot stopper has eleven clean sheets to his name this season which undoubtedly will have gone unnoticed by many.

Wojciech Szczesny (Arsenal) £4.1 Million

With two clean sheets in his last two appearances for Arsenal the Gunners last line of defence has been in fantastic form of late, most notably against Sunderland last time out as the Polish keeper made four fantastic saves to keep his 10 man Arsenal side in the game and secure all three points.

Tim Howard (Everton) £3.7 Million

With two clean sheets in his last five appearances Howards fantasy prospects are looking up. What is most intriguing to us here in “The Managers Office” as far as Everton and Howard are concerned are their remaining home fixtures of the season and it is for this reason that Howard comes into the equation.

Asmir Begovic (Stoke) £3.3 Million

Stoke have not managed to keep a clean sheet since round 18 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League which has caused us some concern here in “The Managers Office” but we have done our homework on the Potters prospects heading into the last 12 weeks of the season and believe it or not Begoivc has the credentials and the ability to make up some good fantasy points as the season draws to a close.
