Manchester City’s recent slump in results have been well documented over recent weeks and with the champions currently lying nine points behind their Manchester neighbours they will be keen to get back to winning ways when the make the trip to St Mary’s this weekend.
Aguero who scored that wonder goal last time out against Liverpool looks to be the only Manchester City striker assured of a starting place in the City attack with both Tevez and Dzeko fighting it out for the one remaining place up top.
The Argentinian striker was also on hand to grab a goal for his national side midweek as Argentina beat Sweden in Gothenburg meaning he is starting to find they type of goalscoring form that we saw from him during City’s run to the title last season.
So far from this campaign Aguero has managed 9 goals and 3 assists this season with a shot conversion rate of 1 in 6.7 finding the net. The Saints welcome Aguero and co to St Mary’s this weekend under the stewardship of their new managers Mauricio Pochettino.
Since his arrival there is no doubting that the Saints have been playing a more attacking style of football but over the three games he has been in charge they have conceded four goals which will not make for good reading heading into this one.
City have it all to play for in this one if they are to have any chance of retaining and with Aguero beginning to find his form again it would be foolish to suggest that he couldn’t get another goal or two come Saturday.
